Originally from Malaga Jorge Ordonez is one of the most important Spanish wholesalers in the united states! he started in the mid-80s. Now he owns various wineries around the peninsula. This one is a serious project in Rias Baixas, in the sub-regions of the Salnes Valley. The grapes are sourced from 2 different vineyards one planted in 1970 and the other in 1984 on sandy soils. The interesting part of this serious white (100% Albarino) is that 25% has been barrel fermented in French oak. This add a layer of complexity such as vanilla, smokiness but without dominating the fruit intensity of the subtle albarino grape. Concentrated and elegant this wine will be brilliant with sophisticated white fish dishes or ceviche!! I feel kind of hungry suddenly...And you?
