The village of Puligny is located between Meursault (to the north) and Chassagne (to the south), and locally this southern part of Côtes de Beaune is known as “la Côte des Blancs”… While Meursault do not carry any Grand Cru, Chassagne and Puligny share one the greatest parcel of white wine worldwide : Montrachet. Probably the most expensive land under vine on earth!
Although close to Chassagne, Puligny is less solar. The sun exposure is generally looking north, also an underground river pass through the village, which explain why most wineries do not have an underground cellar.
Domane Faiveley Les Champs Gains shows what chardonnay can achieve at its best. Racy, vibrant, elegant with delicate nutty aromas and orange peel. Medium-bodied, savory with long after-taste.
A great white from Burgundy to enjoy with Roasted Salmon (papillote)…
