A Priorat that has been berry selected! (or very selected…)

Obviously, this selección Especial is the most difficult one to get of the three! Entirely produced from carignan, that suffer a drastic selection before fermentation, berry by berry. Just the cream of the crop!;-))

The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in new French oak. It is, then, aged 18 months in finely grained French vessels. Although, it fetches a 14,5% of alcohol, it is tremendously fresh. Completely too young, it will deserve to age a few years, but still highly enjoyable. Still a bit tight, and not delivering much apart from phenolic strength, and youth. I like to think, it will bloom in a silky, calm wine, but in 5/8 years. With a certain smokyness, scented and perfumed. recently, I have been impressed by several old wines from the area, that were carignan dominated!

Raul Bobet has been one the first to vinified a fine carignan by itself, and he brought it to a super level.
