Daumas Gassac 2017

Languedoc (Aniane)

75% Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Tannat, Pinot Noir.

1978 was the first vintage to be released, Emile Peynaud was already consultant (Château Margaux, Haut-Brion, La Lagune…). Aime Guibert and his wife were very first to produce a super wines, breaking tradition in the Languedoc. Their aim was, and still is, to produce a fine, elegant and concentrated red wine.

I always like to compare Daumas Gassac with Sassicaia from Tuscany as they, both, still are an strong inspiration for many wine-makers.

The nose is very Bordeaux-like, cassis, smoky with an gentle green pepper note. The palate is concentrated but not heavy. This 2017 has the potential to age over 10/15 years with any trouble.

A great and elegant wine to serve blind to your friends ;-).
