Description

Chapelle Chambertin Grand Cru 2014

Domaine Bouchard Père et Fils

100% Pinot Noir

Gevrey-chambertin is surely one of the most illustrious village of Côtes de Nuits, in Burgundy, with Morey-Saint-Denis, Vougeot, Chambolle-Musigny and Nuits-Saints-Georges…. Chapelle Chambertin is a great grand Cru, this one is aged 12-14 months in oak, with up to 60% new oak.

Although already approachable, this Grand Cru from Burgundy would be great in 2024, and even better in 20 years. But who has that much time?

You must decant it, in order to tame its youthfulness (at least 6 hours, in a large decanter).  And then you will be able to appreciate delicate floral notes that are mixed with dark fruits and toasted aromas. The tannins and the acidity are still present but ,still, the texture is lovely and the wine highly persistent and complex. Plummy and smoky with some cured-meat notes.
