Description

Castell d’Encus, Taleia 2019

Sauvigon Blanc, Sémillon

This unusual project, Castell d’Encus, located in the northern part of Costers del Segre, is fascinating.

The great Raul Bobet has worked, talked or seen some of the most important figures in the wine industry. By that, I mean tremendous names such as Andre Tchelistcheff, Emile Peynaud or Giacomo Tachis! quite an honor.

Most of the vines are 1000 m. high (above sea level), and all the wines are fermented with their wild yeasts. Which makes interesting wines, less impressive aromatically, but with a much more personal complexity.

Taleia is a dry white that has been inspired by the great white wine from Bordeaux. Do not expect a style of sauvignon from the New World! This is truly an old world style. Fine, elegant, subtle with citrussy and discreet gooseberry notes. The acidity is rather high, and will help this wine to age beautifully. Very persistent on the palate, the light oak treatment bring complexity without dominating the subtle fruit. A great drop for delicate gastronomic dishes, especially scallops.
