This unusual project, Castell d’Encus, located in the northern part of Costers del Segre, is fascinating. The great Raul Bobet has worked, talked or seen some of the most important figures in the wine industry. By that, I mean tremendous names such as Andre Tchelistcheff, Emile Peynaud or Giacomo Tachis! quite an honor.
Most of the vines start at 800 m. high (above sea level) up to 1350 m. all the wines are fermented with their wild yeasts. Which makes interesting wines, less impressive aromatically, but with a much more personal complexity. Raul Bobet is obsessed in elaborating some very fine wines, so its wines can seem rather light if compared to other Spanish wines. Raul Bobet aims to craft some elegant, refined, complex wine that will age gracefully.
Ekam is a light, fresh an crisp Riesling that will delight you straight away. But if you are able to age them, just another 3 to 5 years, you will be impressed!
