Daumas Gassac White
Interesting with foie gras, especially if you are looking for dry wine pairing.
Languedoc (Aniane)
Viognier 25%, Chardonnay 25%, Petit Manseng 25% (Chenin, Petit Courbu, Petite Arvine, Rolle, Marsanne…)
Aimé Guilbert and his wife were breaking tradition in the mid-70’s, planting some Cabernet Sauvignon in the Gassac valley, near Aniane (North of Montpellier). Then they have decided to work with France best consultant, at that time, Emile Peynaud (Château Margaux, Haut-Brion, La Lagune…).
The WHITE Daumas Gassac released its first vintage in 1986. A intense and concentrated white wine, that is floral, limey and incredibly complex. The oily texture is savory and impressive. overlooked nowadays by the critics, the Estate is producing some top-notch wines.
