Description

Castell d’Encus, Acusp 2019

Pinot Noir

This unusual project, Castell d’Encus, located in the northern part of Costers del Segre, is fascinating. The great Raul Bobet has worked, talked or seen some of the most important figures in the wine industry. By that, I mean tremendous names such as Andre Tchelistcheff, Emile Peynaud or Giacomo Tachis! quite an honor.

Most of the vines are 1000 m. high (above sea level), and all the wines are fermented with their wild yeasts. Which makes interesting wines, less impressive aromatically, but with a much more personal complexity.

Acusp takes its name from a specific mountain range that over-look the parcel. 100% Pinot Noir that has been entirely fermented in stone lagares! Yes, monks from the XII century carved fermentation vessels. And Raul B. used them to elaborate some of the wines;-)))

Acusp is an elegant wine, with little color concentration with a perfumed nose. Pomegranate, floral, scented, the oak bring some smoky notes, the tannins are present but will disappear as soon as you will eat something. It is fresh, floral and long. A good wine to tease friend in a blind tasting!
